On the count down....

Only 11 weeks and 4 days to go!

So far we have passports (that was fun!) and booked our flights and accommodation . Now I am obsessively researching things to do and see!

Getting passports was not hard as such but it was a little more difficult than I had imagined...Steve didn't have a full copy of his birth certificate and we ordered that no worries as the Victorian Births, Deaths and Marriages have a great website that is really easy to use. We hadn't realised though that we didn't have a proper marraige certificate (which I needed due to the name change from my maiden name to married name). For nearly 10 years I had been using the celebrants ornamental certificate of marriage as proof of identity for my drivers licence, banking, home loan ect. and didn't realise that legally it meant nothing! Then we went and had our passport photos taken at Kmart and they were awful...not only did they show every blemish and more but they had a purple tinge through them so they would not be accepted by the passport office. We then went to the Post Office and they were great but I left the photos in my handbag and forgot they were there...Steve's survived however mine did not. Eventually we got everything together and managed to get back down to the Post Office together to put the forms in and the guy behind the counter was not sure if he could accept my birth certificate as it looks like it may have been torn in half and then taped back together. Thankfully he decided it was okay but when we got home I got a phone call from him saying it had not photocopied properly and I would need to take it back in to be recopied. Thankfully we don't have to do that again for another 10 years!

We think we got some pretty good flights. All up it cost us $952 to visit both Kuala Lumpur and Bali and back home again with Air Asia. That is $347 each for return to Kuala Lumpur from Coolangatta and $129 each for return to Bali from Kuala Lumpur.

We will be going for 15 nights. Our trip will be broken up into 1 night in Kuala Lumpur, 10 nights in Bali, and then 3 nights in Kuala Lumpur before returning home over night.

That's all for now,
Rachael.

Our trip...

In May 2010 we will be celebrating 10 years of marraige and to make it special we are going on our first overseas trip as it is something we have talked about doing ever since we got together.

In this blog we are hoping to record everything from planning to execution :o)

Steve and Rachael.
